Finance Analyst - Financial Control

We are seeking a motivated, proactive Finance Control Analyst to join our Finance Control team. This is a great opportunity for a recent graduate (Accounting, Finance, Economics or similar) or a part-qualified accountant (ACA/ACCA/CIMA) from a banking or financial services background who wants a hands-on role with early responsibility in a fast-moving banking environment.

You will work closely with the Finance Control Director to support high-quality financial reporting, a strong control environment, and the ongoing modernisation of how we produce insights through automation and better data.

Essential qualifications and experience

  • Degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics (or similar), or equivalent experience
  • Graduate-level applicants are welcome
  • Part-qualified accountant (ACA/ACCA/CIMA) from a banking or financial services background, or strong intent to start/complete a professional qualification
  • Solid understanding of core accounting principles
  • Strong Excel skills, including working confidently with large data sets
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • High attention to detail and strong organisational skills

Desirable skills and experience

  • Experience building dashboards in Power BI, Tableau, or similar
  • Experience with automation and data tooling (for example: Power Query, VBA, and basic scripting such as Python)
  • Exposure to financial services regulatory reporting and financial statement preparation (or a strong interest in learning)
  • Familiarity with presenting insights (for example, clear story-telling through charts and short commentary)

Job Responsibilities

Month-end close and financial reporting

  • Support the preparation of accurate and timely financial information in line with IFRS (and internal group policies where applicable)Help produce monthly management accounts and commentary for senior stakeholders
  • Support reporting of Bank performance, including key KPIs and financial metrics.

Balance sheet controls and reconciliations

  • Own and maintain key balance sheet reconciliations, including operational cash balances and flows
  • Help strengthen the finance control environment, including documentation and evidence of controls
  • Support timely issue identification, escalation, and resolution

Process improvement, automation and visualisation

  • Identify manual, repetitive processes and propose practical improvements
  • Build and maintain dashboards and reporting outputs using Power BI, Tableau, or similar visualisation tools
  • Use Excel and data tools to streamline reporting and improve accuracy

Operational finance support and stakeholder management

  • Perform day-to-day accounts payable activities, ensuring suppliers are paid on time and records are accurate
  • Support timely collection of accounts receivable balances
  • Support the preparation and submission of finance-owned regulatory returns (where applicable)
  • Liaise with external stakeholders such as:
    • Auditors
    • Tax specialists
    • Professional services firms
    • Deposit aggregators
    • Correspondent banking partners
